Kaspar
Kaspar is a band formed by two Finnish singer-songwriters, John McGregor and Mikael Hakkarainen. Both men have released two albums of their own. The third member in the band is drummer/pianist Tuomas Hakkarainen. The band has just finished recording their debut album and are looking for labels and contacts.
The initial inspiration for this album has been the life of Kaspar Hauser. Also known as “The Child of Europe”, Kaspar Hauser was a mysterious foundling in 19th century Germany, strongly linked with the princely German House of Baden. He spent his first 15 years locked away from any human contact, in the darkness. But still, after his mysterious appearance in Nurenberg in 1828, he not only learned the academic skills, he turned out to be an extraordinary human being carrying the impulses of empathy and forgiveness. Something rose from the ashes.
The album was recorded in Kingston, New York with producer Malcolm Burn (Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Daniel Lanois, Emmylou Harris, Lisa Germano, Giant Sand, Patti Smith). The musicians on the album are John McGregor, Mikael Hakkarainen, Tuomas “Libby” Hakkarainen and Malcolm Burn. It was recorded and mixed by Malcolm Burn.

Ronan Skillen
Born in N. Ireland May 1980. Ronan’s musical career started age ten with 7 years of classical French horn training in Germany. He was then introduced to the Australian Didgeridoo by master drummer, Emmanuel Gomado from Ghana which sparked many new avenues and collaborations. After much self teaching and musical travels Ronan was fortunate to meet a great Tabla maestro. Having been passionate about percussion and always keen on the Tabla this new chapter couldn’t have come too soon. Ronan began playing Tabla in 2003. His teacher, Ustad Akram Khan is India’s master of a very rich and intricately technical north Indian style known as the Ajarara Gharana. As a disciple continuous learning is the focus and Ronan regularly visits India to further his studies. Major influences like Shakti and Trilok Gurtu have led to exploring a fusion of tabla, percussion and didgeridoo within one context by means of a hybrid percussion kit designed by Ronan. This has become part of his permanent set-up and demonstrates a rich textural variety as well as an intriguing versatility. Ronan has featured his sound in genres across the board from classical through rock, folk, electro, jazz, world music and hip hop. Ronan has performed in S.A., Europe and India and has featured on many recordings and film scores.
Some noteworthy collaborations include recent performances with Johnny Clegg, Ricardo Garcia from Spain, Jazzart, La Rosa Spanish Dance Company, Freshlyground, Cherif Sisokho from Senegal, Monique Hellenberg, Hilton Schilder, Babu and Tonik which won a SAMA (South African Music Award) for 'Best Instrumental Album 2008'.

Guy Collins
Born on the southern tip of Africa, Guy has been playing guitar for almost 25 years. His interest really took off when he was 15 on a warm day. The long distance sounds from somewhere in the American south of Howlin' Wolf on Highway 49 beamed into the living room. While rock and blues music has played a big part in his musical education, he has developed an interest in all improvised music, especially the aspect of making music with people who do not consider themselves musicians. Are we all able to tap into the music behind the world? Guy recorded and/or performed and toured with Billygoat, South African bands Afrikaans rocker Valiant Swart, world music band Starkravingsane, afro-rock outfit Hot Water, his own Mississippi style hillcountry blues band the Mudd Bruthas, acoustic duo the Mudd Family, Delta Blue, LA hip-hopper Matre & the 360 allstars and a global collective Guy Collins & the Global Vagabonds...listen to songs from his upcoming album on myspace
